Cleansing Oils: Do They Actually Work?

Cleansing Oils: Do They Actually Work?

With so many skincare trends, it can be difficult to make sense of the madness. I get messages often from overwhelmed women that really just want something that works! I'm here to help you more easily navigate the skincare terrain for this very reason!

One of the most common questions I receive is...

The simple answer is yes, but I really want to take some time and explore THREE of the reasons why.

  1. Cleansing Oils are gentle. Cleansing oils allow you to gently cleanse the skin without damaging your skin barrier. Because of their emollient nature and lipid composition, research suggests that oils can aid in maintaining the lipid barrier. This can decrease the potential for skin concerns such as acne, irritation, or dryness.
  2. Cleansing Oils prep the skin for more intense cleansers. Even if you choose to use a water-based cleanser following cleansing oil, the emollient properties of the oils can soften skin and also provide moisture prior to regular cleansing. For those with dry skin, this could be a game changer.
  3. Cleansing oils help remove excess oil. I know my oily girls that have made it this far are giving me the side-eye and trust me... I GET YOU. Oil cleansers happen to be amazing for oily skin. If you have been here a while you know that chemistry has ALWAYS been my favorite subject and the first thing I ever learned was that "like dissolves like." Because oil and water do not mix, using a cleansing oil can gently remove excess oil by sort of engulfing the sebum allowing it to be gently rinsed away.
Cleansing Oils are phenomenal and they have truly transformed my skin. Here is how I have added them into my routine!
